9 Important Steps To Take Daily To Change Your Money and Life Fast

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever experienced failure in business or work?

Failure to establish a romantic relationship/friendship?

Failure in securing your finances?

Failed to be a good (fill in the blanks) to that special person?

You need to know this truth: You are NOT a failure.

These failures do not define who you are as a person.

Failure is not a destination.

You are on a journey to learn and grow.

You can and you must get back up.

“It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get back up.” Vince Lombardi.

Maybe you had just lost your business or your job.

Or someone who is important and significant in your life walked away…

Motivational statements, inspiring memes, and cliches don’t make it if you’re hungry and you are not able to put food on the table for your families/to pay the bills.

Binge-watching dramas and TV shows wouldn’t bring the significant person back in your life either.

If you feel a stab of pain in your heart and sincerely wish to get back up in life, here are 9 important steps to take daily to change your money and life fast

Step 1) Reframe Your Mindset

Reframe your mindset

Change your thoughts and you can change your world!

Have you ever experienced a shift in thoughts and your whole body just seems to react differently?

A little more relaxed?

A little more optimistic about the situation?

It’s because your mind is your greatest asset.

The truth is that we suffer more in imagination than in reality.

Too many ‘what ifs’ kill the joy of daily life.

‘The worst-case scenarios’ you thought for yourself rarely happens.

Please stop sabotaging yourself.

You cannot repeatedly make a decision that you find no pleasure in, because every single decision that you consciously make comes from your heart’s desire.

Sadly, there are people who are truly unfortunate in life and they do not have many choices.

But I’m referring to you.

You who can make a change.

You who need to wipe away the tears, get back up and get going.

It starts with reframing your mindset.

It means having a positive vision and a goal that will drive you towards your mission because real change starts with your thoughts.

Reframing your mindset means shifting your thoughts from limiting phrases to expansive phrases.

Let us look at some examples:

Limiting phrase to Expansive phrase

I can’t. — I could.

I doubt. — I am excited to see what’s next.

What if it fails? — What if it succeeds?

I have no control over it. – I am responsible and will do my best ability.

I’m not capable. — I am learning and growing.

I am a failure. – I learn new ways of doing things.

I’m not enough. — I am grateful for who I am.

I am fearful of change — I do not want to stay in this same situation forever.

I am not qualified — I’m sharpening my expertise.

I give up. — I can do this.

It all starts with you.

reframe your mindset change your money and life fast

Reframing those limiting phrases to expansive phrases help with shifting your mindset from what you are not capable of, to what you are can take control of.

Next, we will look at the actionable steps you can take.

Here are some illustrations:

Create excuses. — Take action.

I don’t have time. — I prioritize what’s most important.

I have limited abilities. – Practice, practice, and practice!

I couldn’t handle this. – I can get a mentor.

This is too much work. – I form a team and delegate.

Remember that perfectionism is the enemy of growth.

You just need to start.

You do not have to strive to be perfect.

Set big goals.

But do not be overwhelmed.

Take baby steps each day.

Just a 1% growth and improvement each day would bring you to places you could never imagine.

Know and firmly believe that you can and you will get back up.

Yes, it may take a little more work and a little longer than what you thought would take you.

Life isn’t a bed of roses.

But life is beautiful.

Life is too short to focus on the negative sides only.

There is always a silver lining within those grey clouds.

Step 2) Change Your Focus.

change your focus

When you’re feeling knocked down, ask yourself, “What am I focusing on right now?”

Are you focusing on something that you want or do not want?

Are you seeing the opportunities you can take or the obstacles only?

Instead of looking at what you lack and complain about it, change your focus to what you want and the possible actions, you can take.

Write down all the possible steps to add value to other people i.e. business partners, company/organisation, friends, or family.

Know that your income (and business returns) is correlated to the amount of value you create.

You may ask, “What does this mean?”

Well, it means that the higher the value you are able to create, the higher value you are perceived, and therefore you are paid higher.

If your job is replaceable quickly by someone else, that value isn’t really high.

Create values that benefit others, and your perceived value will shoot right up to the ceiling.

So start writing down values that are highly appreciated and start doing them.

Start small, start where you are, but dream big.

There’s power in starting.

Step 3) Write Down Your Goals.

write your goals

Write down 3 goals for the next 90 days.

That’s all.

They don’t need to be big goals.

Just goals you truly and sincerely want in your life.

These goals can be your business/work goals, personal goals, fitness goals…

You name it.

Write down your 3 goals and the many actions you would take to achieve these goals.

The catch is this: It must be goals that you are committed to achieving in the next 90 days.

There are differences between the goals that you are now setting vs the New Year’s resolutions that every other person sets on New Year’s:

Your commitment, drive, and determination to realizing your goals.

Many people only think about their New Year’s resolution, some of them write them down.

But most do not achieve what they have set for themselves for the year.

And it happens year after year.

Decades after decades.

Some of their New Year’s resolutions look exactly the same as the previous years.

In 2019: I want to slim down to 60kg this year…

In 2020: I still want to slim down to 62kg this year… (Why’s the number increasing? Oh well.)

In 2021: (Oh Crap. During the pandemic, instead of slimming down, I have grown an extra 10kgs…)

Why does this happen?

It leads us to the next step…

Step 4) Form and Stack Habits to Achieve Your Goals.

You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily.

The secret to your success is found in your daily routine. John C. Maxwell.

Habits either make or break a person.

Habit stacking allows you to create a set of simple routines that help guide your future behavior.

For an example:

  • Wake up
  • Make your bed
  • Drink a glass of water
  • Read for 15 minutes
  • Place the book next to your pillow
  • Shower

By the end of the day, when you go back to bed, your book is already there, easily accessible for you to read again.

Another example of habit stacking:

  • End your work
  • Listen to a podcast while driving home
  • Workout
  • Shower
  • Have dinner
  • Work on side hustle
  • Journal
  • Read
  • Sleep

These habits which are done over time reduce idle time.

So form and stack habits that you favor to help you achieve your goals.

List down some of the habit actions that suit your lifestyle.

Then work on it every single day.

Simplicity is key.

You will only follow through with habits that are simple and rational.

You just need simple habits that are helpful and detailed to drive you towards obtaining your goals.

Adapt and improvise the habits as you go along.

Stick to your big goals but adapt your habits whenever it is necessary.

You have the power to choose and stack your habits, so what are some habits that you would choose for yourself?

Ask yourself this question: “What habits will I put in place today, so that I could have a better tomorrow?”

Step 5) Stop Reading The News and Social Media.stop reading social media and news cancel culture

Sadly, most news is negative.

It really doesn’t help when you’re all tied down with the burden of having to care for your family.

To put food on the table.

To make sure the bills are paid.

To have a more decent life for your family.

Instead of being overwhelmed by the news and things that are mostly out of your control, here are some other better ways that you could do:

  • Listen to podcasts
  • Watch YouTube videos to help you sharpen/strengthen your skills
  • Follow inspiring people

These will aspire and help you with achieving your goals.

Next, stop being on social media.

You should stop idling your time on social media i.e. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok… and Netflix.

Time is precious.

You, me, everyone else in the world only have 24 hours a day.

So make full use of the time you have on earth.

If social media and Netflix distract you from performing in your work, take away those distractions.

Only use social media and enjoy a little Netflix when you have completed your goals.

Also…

Please stop beating yourself (if you do) by comparing your life with other people’s.

You’re doing a disservice to yourself by comparing yourself with others.

Not everyone who’s on social media is real.

Many people use ‘filter’ on Facebook or Instagram.

It’s common to only post pictures, statements, and videos that are pleasing to others, but life is not only the good side.

To have a rainbow, rain is needed.

There are thorns on roses.

And that’s life.

The only person you can and should compare yourself to is who you were yesterday.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • “Did I grow today compared to yesterday?”
  • “What are some things that I can do better tomorrow?”
  • “What are the current blessings that I have in my life?”

These questions will help you to reflect and be grateful for what you have right now.

Gratitude changes the inner world of a person.

Step 6) Avoid Toxic People

You cannot hang out with negative people and expect to live a positive fun-filled life.

Some of them are secretly waiting to see you fail and would bring you down.

Their negative influences hold you back.

Let go of the opinions of others. Set yourself free from their invincible cages!

How can you free yourself from the opinions of others when they are set in their minds to bring you down anyway?

Therefore, how others think of you is not your business.

Sounds harsh, I know.

Easy to do it? Well, not really.

Here are some 5 common signs of toxic people:

  • They have never-ending dramas.
  • You feel tired after talking to them.
  • They constantly put you down or compare your work with someone else’s.
  • They secretly compete with you and do not wish you well.
  • They cross boundaries and do not value you.

You don’t have to cut all ties with toxic people, but you must set boundaries with them.

Instead, identify true friends who got your back and are genuinely happy for you.

These friends help you to grow, and you help them as well.

If you have friends who exhibit these signs, never lose them:

  • They listen and empathize with you.
  • They cry and feel hurt when they see you hurt.
  • They want you to be happy.
  • They encourage you to be the best version of yourself.
  • They tell you the truth, not to bring you down, but for your improvements.

Surround yourself with friends who have common goals and visions.

If you value honesty, make sure that they do too!

Step 7) Have a Budget and Put Aside Finances for Investment.

finance money grow

If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need. This famous quote is by Warren Buffet.

Therefore, you need to…

Save BEFORE you spend.

Many people save only after spending, but most of the time, whatever that’s left after spending is close to zero.

Make it a point to save at least 10% or more of your income as seed capital for your investments in the future.

No matter how small your income is, make this a priority.

It’s like you’re taxing yourself.

When the company gives out your salary, make it an automatic 10% transfer from your main bank account to a different bank account, and name it ‘Financial Freedom Account’.

NEVER use money from your financial freedom account unless you are going to invest this money.

If you do not know what to invest in yet, educate yourself!

Listed here are some investments you can venture into:

  • Stocks
  • Real estate
  • Bonds
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Businesses

The best investment you can make is on yourself!

Purchase some investment books to read, listen to podcasts, go for classes, join a mastermind group.

Investing in yourself through education will give you good knowledge to invest in.

Since I was 19, I have been reading investment books and attended investment classes.

The return on investments I made was:

  • Purchasing 2 real estate properties with no money down, with 7.5-8.5% positive rental returns and 22% below market value.
  • Invested in the Peer-To-Peer Lending program with 8-13% returns yearly.

I plan to start investing in stocks real soon (like the end of the year).

And you can do it too!

Here are some good investment books you can start off with:

  • Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
  • Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko
  • One Up On Wall Street by Peter Lynch

Make it a rule to always invest at least 10-30% or more of your income into these investment vehicles.

Even if you do not have the capital right now to invest, save all that you can, even if it is just $200 this month.

Because in 12 months, you will have at least $2400 which is put aside that would give you enough capital for investment.

Step 8) Commit 100% To Your Responsibility.

Be 100% committed to your life.

Commitment means “to devote oneself unreservedly.”

If you do not like the status or living environment you are currently in, take massive actions to upgrade it.

You must commit to doing something so powerfully as if your life depends on it.

Be responsible for your actions.

Don’t blame, don’t complain, and give no excuses no matter what.

Blaming, complaining, and giving excuses wouldn’t help you and you could use your energy for better things.

Refer back to Step 1 on how to reframe your mindset.

Here are 6 key characteristics of success:

  • Positive attitude
  • Integrity
  • Courage
  • Trustworthiness
  • Persistence and Commitment aka Never Give Up!
  • Be an expert in at least one field

Step 9) Celebrate Small Wins.

Celebrate the small wins as the bigger wins are coming your way!

Pray and give thanks to God for all that you already have. This will do more for your psychology than anything else.

Give yourself a pat on your back!

Did you do it?

Good.

While celebrating small wins, develop the attitude of delayed gratification.

Do not splurge on a big party to celebrate small wins.

Rather, have simple yet meaningful celebrations to commemorate your first sale, first job, reconciliation with friends/family members.

Remember to help others along the way. That’s how you feel fulfilled and content with your life.

Final Thoughts

Sometimes, it takes an overwhelming breakdown to have an undeniable breakthrough.

When your mission and goals are strong enough, the fears and struggles are never big enough.

be responsible for your life

With these 9 simple steps, I hope that they will help you will get up and have the courage to start your life again.

The world belongs to those who dare to dream and take action on it.

Because, when life knocks you down, you only have two choices:

  1. Accept defeat and stay on the ground.

                              OR

  1. Regain your life and come up stronger.

The path to an extraordinary life will always require sacrifices and struggles.

Falling down in life is just part of life.

Getting up is the real deal.

Make a conscious choice to always get back up from your struggles, no matter how deep it is.
