Just think and it will come true!
Yes, you heard that right! Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right!”.
For an overthinker like myself, I used to doubt this method, it sounded a little too impractical.
But anyway, I took up the challenge, and oh boy this visualizing thingy has definitely worked well for me – seeing some of my dreams coming true (while adding a little hard work).
It may seem surreal, but trust me, I’ve done it and enjoyed some dreams of mine coming true (i.e. traveling around the world – well, I did! I traveled around Latin America and the Caribbean for 1 year and 10 months). If I can do it, you can too.
My vision board story
I first started creating vision boards when I was 19, I didn’t know that they were called vision boards back then.
I like to scroll back at some photos of family and friends having fun together, it brings a lot of joy.
and then I started adding photos and pictures of places I’d like to visit one day.
and little did I know that I would be visiting these places 6 years later after the vision board creation.
These dreams came true, and I had fun making them anyway.
(Taken in Brazil: oh hey, I’m on the other side of the world!)
The Secret Behind Why Vision Board Creation Works
Clarity is power. What you focus on, expands.
Vision board works because through a vision board, you are being clear of your visions and goals as well as for deciding what you truly want.
Visualizing is seeing your dreams, goals, aspirations come to life through believing.
Here are the 4 Steps to Vision Board Creation That Works:
- Define Your Goals
- Have The Board Set Up
- What Inspires You?
- Bring Your Vision Board To Life
Some of the world’s most influential leaders such as Oprah Winfrey, Vishen Lakhiani, Tony Robbins all agree that you can turn your dreams into reality through the power of manifestation.
It is not magic, though, nor is it an overnight success that comes true astonishingly.
You need to condition yourself into believing that you are capable of owning your dreams and being confident that you are realizing them.
What is visualization?
Visualization is a tool to help manifest what you’d like to achieve anywhere from relieving stress, feeling empowered, driving a brand new car you’ve always wanted, losing weight, getting that promotion, being in a relationship with your ideal partner, and so on.
It is not just attaining materialistic items, you can also include how you want to feel – joyful, loved, amazing…
So are you ready to make your vision board and see your dreams come alive?
1. Define Your Goals
Create a list of what you’d like to achieve within the next year, 5 years, and 10 years from now.
Write down what’s most important for you.
Here are some examples:
- travel around Latin America for 6 months
- spend more time with family
- drive that new Mercedes Benz
- having that sexy and confident body
- purchasing real estate in Hawaii
- giving a TED Talk
Whatever it is, be as specific as possible, and don’t forget to sprinkle some of your imaginations and desires.
2. What’s Inspires You?
Look for images that best describe what you’ve listed down.
Take the time to look for images that really speak to you. It can be memories you’ve cherished so much thus you can get those images from your phone/computer library.
Take out the magazines and books and start cutting out those pretty images.
Another good and cheap alternative is to download images from Google and print them!
Add a timeline to the individual dreams if you’d like.

3. Have the board set up

4. Bring Your Vision Board To Life
How would you know that you are realizing your dreams if you did not even put thoughts on those dreams?
Put up your vision board in your bedroom or office – a place where you look at it often.
Feel, enjoy and know that you will attain those dreams one day.
Do Not Do These While Creating A Vision Board!
Vision board creation can be fun, however, take note that you never ever do this while creating it!
1. Do Not Limit Yourself
Do not think of what’s impossible, and only stick to what is attainable. Let your feelings guide you to understanding what you really want.
Think with your heart and feel with your head.
Do not say, “Oh, I don’t have the money to do all these!”. Throw this thought away.
What’s impossible can and will be possible if you truly believe it.
2. Do Not Look At Images Through The Usual Method
Do not take images and stick them on the vision board you created just because it is the cool/right thing to do.
You do not need to impress anyone except to be true to yourself.
So if you do not like that Porsche sports car, do not put it in.
3. Do Not Stick With The Second Best
Do not just put up an image of a house but that isn’t the house you would like to live or own one day!
If you do not find any image that you like so far, then leave it blank first. You can always create an image by yourself later and stick it up.
Bear in mind that this is a dream-come-true vision board creation and no-nonsense should be in it.
